We dig wells for clean water

Globally, more than 840 million people have no access to clean water. Billions of people in the world get their water from contaminated sources. Drinking dirty water can cause terrible diseases such as cholera, typhoid and diarrhoea, which kill millions of people every year. In many parts of the world, people – especially women and children – spend many hours each day covering dangerous terrain in search of water. 

When we give water, we give life. Not only do we help to stop the spread of disease, we also give children the opportunity to go to school, we give women the opportunity to care for their families or to work, and we help communities to become healthier, stronger and less dependent.
